I have practiced writing, teaching, choreography, and dance in and around Lake Forest College since 1998. Although trained as a scholar of twentieth-century fiction, I now mainly write essays, on topics that range quite literally from the sublime (links between creative and spiritual practices) to the ridiculous (faculty dumpster diving on campus). Most recently I've taught courses in women writers, nonfiction writing, pop culture studies, and gender studies. I also direct the Lake Forest College Writing and Thinking Workshop, a two-week summer program for high school students who want to be immersed in imaginative, critical inquiry through writing. In the last few years, I've returned to dance, which I practiced part-time with a professional company while I was in graduate school in Madison, Wisconsin. My training is in ballet, modern, improvisational jazz, and yoga.
