Lake Forest College
PROGRAM IN GREECE AND TURKEY
Dean of Students Office Reference

NAME OF STUDENT APPLICANT ________________________________________________________________________

1. The PROGRAM IN GREECE AND TURKEY, which academically involves studying ancient Aegean civilizations from the Minoan to Byzantine periods in their historical, cultural and geographic settings, is unusually demanding in a number of ways. Students must be able to focus their learning skills while on the road. They must often arrange for their own lodging, meals and other necessities. There is extensive travel under conditions that are physically strenuous, occasionally uncomfortable, and sometimes changed by the Fates at the last minute. The success of the program depends on the participants' adaptability, cooperative spirit, high energy, sense of humor, ability to study under trying circumstances and emotional maturity. Please comment on the applicant's strengths and weaknesses in these respects.

2. In Greece, students can easily purchase and imbibe alcoholic drinks. Use of other drugs, however, carries stiff penalties if discovered. It is imperative, for their own sake and for that of the program, that our students behave responsibly. Please indicate any reservations you might have concerning the applicant in these respects.
