Lake Forest College
PROGRAM IN GREECE AND TURKEY

Faculty Reference

NAME OF STUDENT APPLICANT ______________________________________

1. The PROGRAM IN GREECE AND TURKEY involves studying ancient Aegean civilizations from the Minoan to the Byzantine periods, focusing on artistic and archeological materials in their historical, cultural and geographic settings. While the only course prerequisite is an introduction to Greek art, history and literature, students are expected to have analytic ability and intellectual curiosity. We would appreciate your impression of the applicant's general academic capabilities and motivation.

2. Students in the program often must arrange for their own lodging, meals and other necessities. The program requires extensive travel under conditions that are physically strenuous, occasionally uncomfortable, and sometimes changed by the Fates at the last minute. The success of the program depends on the participants' adaptability, cooperative spirit, sense of humor and emotional maturity. Please comment on the applicant's strengths and weaknesses in these respects.

Thank you for your assistance. Feel free to use the back of this sheet if you need additional space for your comments.
