Adolph V. Baracani '49
Growing up in Highwood, Illinois, Adolph developed a keen interest in sports, particularly football.  After a year of study at the University of South Carolina, he returned to Illinois and enrolled in Lake Forest College.

He entered Lake Forest College and earned three varsity letters in football.  Adolph was named Most Valuable Player and All Conference his senior year.  President of the Lettermen's Club and vice president of Kappa Sigma, he was also a member of Sigma Pi Sigma and was selected for Who's Who in American Colleges.  He was also the recipient of the Stahl Award for Excellence in Science.

Graduating with a degree in physics, he pursued a career in semi-professional football.  He played for the Waukegan Merchants for six years and captained the team for one year.  In 1951 he married Margaret Drack '49.  He later founded Al Baracani Company and continues to head the company.

A loyal alumnus, he has served on the Alumni Board of Directors, co-chaired the Student Relations committee of the Alumni Board and served on the Executive Committee.  An active member of the Highwood community, he has coached a number of youth football teams and officiated many basketball games at the Highwood Recreation Center.
