Barbara Brinkman (Philbrick) '60
Growing up in Cincinatti, Ohio, Barbara attended Walnut Hill High School.  She entered Lake Forest in 1956 and was active in numerous organizations and groups on campus.

Barbara, a biology major, was a member of Beta Beta Beta, the College Christian Community, and Community Council.  Her leadership was noticeable as she was treasurer and secretary of Alpha Phi and was a representative on the Panhellenic Council.  Her impact was most felt through her involvement with the Women's Recreation Association, for which she served as vice president and president, and the Women's Self Governing Association.  Along with acting as the secretary for W.S.G.A, Barbara was selected as the National Convention Representative for the organization's meeting.

After receiving her degree in biology from Lake Forest, Barbara received her M.S. in education and Ph.D. from Purdue.  She devoted her career to education, teaching at DePaul University, Purdue, and eventually Northeastern University.  While at Purdue, she also coached the women's basketball team.  She is the author of many publications about sports and is an authority in the physical education field.  She currently lives in Reading, Massachusetts with her husband Benjamin '58 and is associate professor at Boston Bouve College of Northeastern University.
