Inducted 1991 Growing up in Cedar Falls, Iowa, Chris attended Northern University High School and participated four years in swimming and diving, finishing 4th in diving at the state championship meet as a senior. She also competed four years on the basketball team, two years on the track team and one year on her school's first softball team, to which she was elected captain and selected All-Conference. She entered Lake Forest in 1977 and enjoyed a remarkable athletic career. Her talents were a mainstay of the Lake Forest College women's swim team as she won three Illinois State Championship and was undefeated all four years in dual diving competition. Chris was the first athlete in NCAA Division III to receive All-American honors in both a swimming and diving event and was also the first Lake Forest diver toe win an NCAA championship (1981). A four year softball player, she was elected Most Valuable Player her senior year. Graduating in 1981 with a degree in biology, Chris stayed at Lake Forest College to coach the women's diving team that included another All-American and NCAA champion, and was also an assistant softball coach. In 1983 she went into veterinary medicine as a technician and continued to coach diving at the high school level and compete in amateur softball.
