Inducted 1975 Growing up in Chicago, Illinois, Clinton attended Bowen High School. He entered Lake Forest in 1928 and went on to earn 11 varsity letters. He earned four in football, three each in basketball and baseball and one in track. His senior year he was elected captain of the baseball team. In addition to his athletic interests, he served as treasurer of Sigma Pi Sigma, vice president of the Iron Key Society and president of the Wings Club. He was also a member of Digamma Alpha Upsilon and Chorus. Graduating with a degree in physics and history, he took a position with Republic Steel Corporation, where he was senior melter and an instructor. Clinton was a member of the American Institute of Mining and Metallurgical Engineers.
