Lake Forest College Coach Wins Inaugural Triathlon
Tina McDonie wins first Pleasant Prairie Triathlon

Head Coach Tina McDonie has made a name for herself in the triathlon community.
PLEASANT PRAIRIE, WI - Lake Forest College head cross country and assistant swimming & diving coach Tina McDonie was the top female finisher at the Pleasant Prairie Triathlon Sunday (August 18). There were approximately 530 participants in the first year of the USA Triathlon sanctioned event. Pleasant Prairie is located just north of the Illinois-Wisconsin border.

The competitors began with a 1.5-kilometer swim in Lake Andrea, which McDonie completed in 17 minutes and 58 seconds. She then spent one hour, seven minutes and 26 seconds while traveling 40 kilometers on her bicycle. The 40-year-old finished by running a 10-kilometer course in 41 minutes and 24 seconds. Her overall time of 2:08:58 was nearly ten minutes faster than the next-fastest female.

Next weekend, McDonie will welcome her returning runners and a number of newcomers for her second season as head cross country coach at Lake Forest College (fourth year with the program). During the winter, she will serve as an assistant coach of the school's swimming & diving team for the third year.
