Lake Forest Closes Out Season at NCAA Midwest Regional
Hankosky breaks his own school record by 23 seconds

Dan Hankosky beat his old school record by 23 seconds.
DAVENPORT, IA - The Lake Forest College cross country teams closed out the 2004 season at the 2004 NCAA Midwest Regional on Saturday (November 13). Four men and one woman competed for the Foresters so neither team had enough runners to be listed in the team standings. UW-La Crosse won the men’s competition and UW-Stevens Point the women’s.

Dan Hankosky (Orland Park, IL/Carl Sandburg) finished off a stellar sophomore season by placing 107th in the meet and breaking his own school record with an 8-kilometer time of 26:16. He had set the previous mark of 26:39 in early October at Loyola University’s Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational and now owns the five fastest 8K times in school history. Junior Derek Meiring (Carleton, MI/Airport Senior) was next for Lake Forest in 163rd place in the 243-runner race with a time of 27:33. Senior Logan Dick (Tucson, AZ/Salpointe Catholic) time of 28:19 was just two seconds slower than his career-best and junior Will Pittinos (Coral Gables, FL/Palmer-Trinity) set a new personal record at 29:29.

Sophomore Leann Kimmons (Centennial, CO/Eaglecrest), the lone Forester female in the competition, completed the 6-kilometer course in 25:07 and in 166th place out of 255 runners.

Lake Forest’s men’s team loses just one runner (Logan Dick) to graduation in May. The women, who already have the largest roster in the program’s ten years, have no seniors and just two juniors.
