Lake Forest Completes 2008 Season at NCAA Midwest Regional Meet
Women place 30th, men 34th

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The Forester cross country teams closed out their 2008 season at the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional Meet, hosted by Augustana College, on Saturday (November 15). The Lake Forest women placed 30th out of 43 complete teams and the men were 34th out of 39.

Sophomore Ryann Freeman (Northfield, Minn./Northfield) finished 110th out of 289 runners with a 6-kilometer time of 24:33, the eighth-fastest mark in program history. Senior Sarah Marrinan (Sauk Rapids, Minn./Cathedral) was next on the squad in 192nd place with a career-best time of 26:24, which ranks 23rd in team history. Sophomore Brecklind Golovich Keie (East Jordan, Mich./Charlevoix) was 212th in 27:04 and junior Stella Suhayda (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville) crossed the line just three places later in a career-best 27:23. Freshman Kayla Ahlstrand (Grayslake, Ill./Grayslake Central) rounded out Lake Forest's top five in 219th place with a time of 27:28.

Senior Andrew Hutchinson (Redwood City, Calif./Sequoia) led the men's team for the fifth time this season. He covered the 8-kilometer course in 27:37 and placed 139th out of 279 competitors. Sophomore Evan Piermont (East Hampton, N.Y./East Hampton) was next on the team in 201st place with a season-best time of 29:02. Junior Tom Plonowski (Gurnee, Ill./Warren) finished 212th in 29:16 and sophomore Gilbert Reynders (St. Louis, Mo./ Chaminade College Prep) crossed the line just seven places and 16 seconds later. Freshman Kelsey Small (Wallingford, Conn./Notre Dame) completed the Foresters' scorers in 246th place with a time of 30:23.

It was the final collegiate race for Marrinan and Hutchinson. They will graduate in May with teammates Therese Conway (Rocky River, Ohio/Magnificat), Nicole Nodi (Chicago, Ill./Whitney M. Young), Amy Stout (Littleton, Colo./Heritage), Ally Weninger (Albuquerque, N.M./Sandia Preparatory School), and Chris Bembynista (Overland Park, Kan./Barstow School).
