Foresters Run at Oshkosh’s Highly-Competitive Brooks Invitational

WINNECONNE, Wis. - The Lake Forest College cross country teams competed at UW-Oshkosh’s Brooks Invitational on Saturday (October 13). The Forester women placed 16th and the men 20th at the event. Washington University won the women’s competition and New York University placed first in the men’s team standings.

Freshman Ryan Freeman (Northfield, Minn./Northfield) was the first Forester to cross the finish line in the women’s 6-kilometer race. She placed 159th out of 211 runners with a time of 26:43 and was followed by classmate Brecklind Golovich-Keie (East Jordan, Mich./Charlevoix) just three places and 10 seconds later. Junior Sarah Marrinan (Sauk Rapids, Minn./Cathedral) was 166th overall with a time of 27:27, freshman Joanne Michaud (Miami, Fla./Pembroke Pines) finished 192nd in 29:05, and junior Synneve Yoder (Murray, Neb./Conestoga) rounded out the team’s top five in 197th with a time of 29:49.

On the men’s side freshman Kahiye Hassan (Portland, Maine/Waynflete School) placed 154th out of 358 runners with an 8-kilometer time of 26:38, the second-fastest mark in team history. Sophomore John Thies (Los Angeles, Calif./Saint Francis) was the 241st runner to cross the line crossed the line and finished in 27:58. Junior Andrew Hutchinson (Redwood City, Calif./Sequoia) was third on the team with a 262nd-place time of 28:21 and classmate Levi Paul (Austin, Minn./Governor Dummer) was 300th in 29:10. Freshman Evan Piermont (East Hampton, N.Y./East Hampton) finished just four places and eight seconds after Paul.

After a weekend off of racing, the Foresters will compete at the Midwest Conference Championship Meet on Saturday, October 27. The meet, hosted by Illinois College, will begin at 11:00 a.m.
