Foresters Run on Friday at Aurora’s Spartan Classic
Men place fourth, women seventh in University/College Division

AURORA, Ill. - The Lake Forest College cross country teams traveled to Oakhurst Forester Preserve on Friday (September 14) to compete in Aurora University’s Spartan Classic. The Forester men placed fourth out of six teams in the event’s University/College Division and the women finished seventh of eight.

Freshman Kahiye Hassan (Portland, Maine/Waynflete School) once again led the Lake Forest men by placing seventh overall with an 8-kilometer time of 27:53. Junior Andrew Hutchinson (Redwood City, Calif./Sequoia) was next on the team in 32nd place with a time of 30:39. Sophomore Levi Paul (Austin, Minn./Governor Dummer) was 38th in 31:00 and freshman Evan Piermont (East Hampton, N.Y./East Hampton) finished just one place and nine seconds later. Fellow freshman Gilbert Reynders (St. Louis, Mo./Chaminade College Prep) rounded out the squad’s top five in 43rd place with a time of 31:45.

The women raced six kilometers on Friday and sophomore Grace Schlafly (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) completed the course in 25:51 and in 29th place. Junior Sarah Marrinan (Sauk Rapids, Minn./Cathedral) was next on the team in 39th with a time of 26:51. Freshman Brecklind Golovich-Keie (East Jordan, Mich./Charlevoix) finished 20 seconds later in 42nd place and classmate Ryan Freeman (Northfield, Minn./Northfield) was 57th in 28:01. Joanne Michaud (Miami, Fla./Pembroke Pines), another freshman, placed fifth on the squad and 72nd in the race with a time of 30:35.

Lake Forest will host the Ninth Annual Forester Invitational next Saturday (September 22) at 11:00 a.m. The races will begin and end at Half Day Forest Preserve in Vernon Hills, Illinois.
