Joining Simpson in the top ten was junior Michelle Murillo (5th), freshman Jill Henricks (7th), freshman Jillian Hibler (8th), freshman Melissa Brown (9th) and sophomore Jennifer McGuire (10th). It was the first collegiate cross country meet for Henricks, Hibler, Brown and freshmen Molly Sutherland and Kat McCauley. Hibler, a newcomer to the sport who ran her first-ever meet, was named the Forester Runner of the Week by Coach Wajerski. The Forester's 32 points bested second place Benedictine by 7 points. During the 3.25-mile men's race, sophomore Zemaitis became the first Forester, male or female, to win a meet. Chris Guillan's third place finish on October 25th, 1997 was the previous highest male finish. Zemaitis covered the course in 17:41 and was named the Forester Runner of the Week. Freshman Eric Crawley, running in his first collegiate meet, finished eighth with a time of 19:24. Freshman Rob Bahde and sophomore Naresh Kavuri also ran their first cross country meet. As a team, the Lake Forest men finished third behind Concordia-River Forest and North Park.
