Lake Forest Hosts 10th Annual Forester Invitational
Lake Forest men and women place fifth

VERNON HILLS, Ill. - The Lake Forest College cross country teams hosted the 10th annual Forester Invitational at Half Day and Wright Woods Forest Preserves on Saturday (September 27). The Forester women placed fifth out of 10 teams and the men finished in the same place out of eight. Wheaton College won both team competitions.

Sophomore Ryann Freeman (Northfield, Minn./Northfield) was the first Lake Forest runner to cross the finish line in the women's 5-kilometer race. She was 19th overall and her time of 20:14 was 59 seconds better than her previous career-best. Sophomore Brecklind Golovich-Keie (East Jordan, Mich./Charlevoix) was next on the team in 45th place with a time of 21:32 and freshman Allie Longenecker (Lee's Summit, Mo./Lee's Summit North) finished right behind her just one one second later. Senior Sarah Marrinan (Sauk Rapids, Minn./Cathedral) was 50th in 21:58 and freshman Kayla Ahlstrand (Grayslake, Ill./Grayslake Central) 51st in 22:08. Eighteen of the 21 Foresters in the race ran career-best times.

Senior Andrew Hutchinson (Redwood City, Calif./Sequoia) was the men's team's top finisher for the second straight week. He placed 19th and completed the 8-kilometer course in 28:02. Junior Tom Plonowski (Gurnee, Ill./Warren) was 30th in 28:47 and sophomore Gilbert Reynders (St. Louis, Mo./Chaminade College Prep) crossed the line just three places and 24 second later. Freshman Peter Sullivan (Lockport, Ill./Lockport) finished 40th in 29:37 and sophomore Evan Piermont (East Hampton, N.Y./East Hampton) rounded out the top five in 48th place with a time of 30:28.

The Foresters will not compete next weekend and will resume their schedule at Benedictine University's Eagle Invitational on Friday, October 10. The meet will begin at 3:00 p.m.
