Foresters Race at Loyola University Chicago’s Lakefront Invitational
Men place 14th, women 19th in Maroon Division

CHICAGO, Ill. - The Lake Forest College cross country teams competed in the Maroon Division of Loyola University Chicago’s Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational on Saturday (September 29). The Forester men placed 14th out of 25 teams and the women 19th out of 21.

The women’s 5-kilometer race was first and freshman Ryan Freeman (Northfield, Minn./Northfield) was the Foresters’ top finisher in 159th place (out of 286 runners) with a time of 22:18. Sophomore Grace Schlafly (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) was next in 175th place with a time of 22:30 and freshman Brecklind Golovich-Keie (East Jordan, Mich./Charlevoix) finished 10 seconds and seven places later. Junior Sarah Marrinan (Sauk Rapids, Minn./Cathedral) was 196th overall in 23:03 and classmate Synneve Yoder (Murray, Neb./Conestoga) rounded out the Foresters’ top five in 252nd place with a time of 25:03.

Freshman Kahiye Hassan (Portland, Maine/Waynflete School) led the men’s squad for the fifth time in as many races this season, completing the 8-kilometer course in 27:54 and in 48th place out of 239 competitors. Sophomore John Thies (Los Angeles, Calif./Saint Francis) finished 71st in 28:47 and junior Andrew Hutchinson (Redwood City, Calif./Sequoia) placed 136th in 30:11. Fellow junior Levi Paul (Austin, Minn./Governor Dummer) came in 40 seconds after Hutchinson in 154th place and freshman Gilbert Reynders (St. Louis, Mo./Chaminade College Prep) was 177th with a time of 31:38.

The Foresters will compete on Friday (October 5) next week at the Benedictine University Eagle Invitational. The meet will begin at 3:30 p.m.
