GREEN BAY, WI - The Lake Forest College men's and women's cross country teams survived the heat Saturday (September 6) at the Tom Barry Invitational, hosted by St. Norbert College at Colburn Park in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Foresters placed ninth in the women's standings with 223 points and seventh in the men's with 169.

The College of St. Scholastica claimed the title in the women's race with 53 points. St. Norbert placed second with 80 and UW-Stout third with 122. The St. Norbert Alumni (125), Ripon College (141), Lawrence University (143), Wisconsin Lutheran College (169), and Edgewood College (179) rounded out the top eight.

Individually, Lake Forest boasted the meet's third-place finisher in freshman Katie Snowden (Toronto, ON/York Mills Collegiate Institution). Her time of 20:07 for the 5-kilometer course matches the 12th-best in school history and is the fastest posted by a Forester female since 1999. Fellow freshman Estefania Luna (Highwood, IL/Highland Park) was Lake Forest's second runner in 48th place. In the 57th spot, sophomore Genia Lindsey (Albuquerque, NM/Sandia) ran nearly two minutes faster than she did at the same meet last year and freshman Liz Martinez (Chicago, IL/Cristo Rey Jesuit) and sophomore Catherine Norton (South Boston, MA/Phillips Andover Academy) completed the team's top five in 71st and 91st places, respectively, out of 155 finishers.

In the men's four-mile race, UW-Stout finished first with just 28 points, nearly 100 ahead of second-place St. Norbert' 126. Northland College (144) was third, the College of St. Scholastica (148) fourth, the St. Norbert Alumni (156) fifth, and Ripon College (157) sixth.

Freshman Dan Hankosky (Orland Park, IL/Carl Sandburg) led the Foresters with a time of 22:49 and a 17th-place finish. Junior Logan Dick (Tucson, AZ/Salpointe Catholic) placed 35th at 23:36. Fellow junior Beau Llewellyn (Oro Station, ON/Eastview Secondary School) was just six places and 11 seconds back and sophomore Derek Meiring (Carleton, MI/Airport Senior) finished two spots and three seconds after Llewellyn. Sophomore Will Pittinos (Coral Gables, FL/Palmer-Trinity) was the Foresters' fifth man in 57th place. There were 121 runners in the race.

Lake Forest will compete in the Concordia University Invitational in Mequon, Wisconsin, next Saturday (September 13). Last year the Foresters placed eighth at Concordia in the men's race and 12th on the women's side.
