Lake Forest Competes at Carroll University Invitational
Women place fifth, men sixth

WAUKESHA, Wis. - The Forester cross country teamsparticipated in the Carroll University Invitational at Minooka Park in Waukesha, Wisconsin on Saturday (September 6). Lake Forest's women placed fifth out of eight teams while the men finished sixth out of seven. UW-Oshkosh won both the men's and women's team competition.

The Forester women were led for the second straight week by sophomore Ryann Freeman (Northfield, Minn./Northfield), who posted a career-best 5-kilometer time of 21:14 and placed 22nd out of 104 runners. Classmate Brecklind Golovich-Keie (East Jordan, Mich./Charlevoix) was next ont he team in 40th place with a time of 22:30. Senior Sarah Marrinan (Sauk Rapids, Minn./Cathedral) was 45th in 22:40 and junior Martina Kolb (Gurnee, Ill./Warren) was the next runner to cross the line just six seconds later. Freshman Kayla Ahlstrand (Grayslake, Ill./Grayslake Central) rounded out the squad's top five in 54th place with a time of 23:20.

The Lake Forest men's team also had the same top finisher as a week ago in freshman Kelsey Small (Wallingford, Conn./Notre Dame). He completed his first career 8-kilometer race in 29:26 and in 33rd place out of 88 runners. Senior Andrew Hutchinson (Redwood City, Calif./Sequoia) was 37th in 29:47 and freshman Peter Sullivan (Lockport, Ill./Lockport) followed him in just seven seconds later. Sophomore Gilbert Reynders (St. Louis, Mo./Chaminade College Prep) finished 47th in 30:53 and junior Tom Plonowski (Gurnee, Ill./Warren) was 59th in 31:46.

The Foresters' next meet will be Aurora University's Spartan Classic Friday (September 12) at 4:30 p.m.
