up in Evanston, Illinois, Chuck attended Evanston Township High School
where he participated in football.
Entering Lake Forest in 1949, he went on to earn four varsity letters in football. An All-Conference player for three years, he was also president of the Athletic Board of Control and the Lettermen's Club. Captain of the football team his senior year, he was also vice president of Phi Pi Epsilon his junior and senior years. Graduating with a degree in history in 1954, he married Susan Stanley '54 and served in the U.S. Marine Corp. He continued his education at Ohio State University, graduating from the National School of Real Estate Finance in 1972. He became vice president of Oak Park National Bank and eventually served as vice president of Northbrook Trust and Savings Bank.
