Don Ford '69
Growing up in Belvidere, Illinois, Don attended Belvidere H.S. and competed four years in wrestling and baseball and three years in football.  Captain of the baseball team his senior year, he was also a conference and district wrestling champion.

He entered Lake Forest College in 1965 and earned three letters each in wrestling and baseball.  He had a career wrestling record of 25-6 and holds the school record for the quickest pin, 14 seconds.  He was elected baseball captain and Most Valuable Player his junior year.  A member and president of Digamma Alpha Upsilon, Don was selected for the Iron Key Society and earned Phi Beta Kappa honors with a double major in biology and chemistry.  He completed his undergraduate degree as a first-year medical student at Northwestern University and received his M.D. in 1972.  He interned in Rockford and, in 1975, moved to Geneseo, Illinois, to open a family practice.

Don continued his interest in athletics by coaching girls softball and serving as a team doctor for local athletic teams.  He also served his community on the local school board, was Medical Director of the Henry County Health Department, President of the County Health Board and an Elder of the Presbyterian Church.
