Evelyn Dye Gill '63
Growing up in Newport, Rhode Island, Evelyn attended Rogers High School and was one of the top tennis players in New England.  She was the number one ranked player in the New England Juniors during the late 1950s and early 1960s.

She entered Lake Forest in 1959 and went on to earn four letters in tennis and three each in basketball and field hockey.  Captain of the tennis team, Evelyn was also Chairman of the College's Women's Recreation Association and a member of the Association of Women Students, Community Government Association, Campus Chest, and Alpha Phi.

After earning her degree in history, she earned a Master's degree in physical education from Smith College and married fellow alumnus George Gill '62.  Evelyn taught tennis at the Princeton Indoor Tennis Center and the Hamilton Center of the Trenton YWCA and became Director of Health, Education, Recreation and Women's Services there.

Through her involvement with the Jaycee-ettes, Evelyn founded the Mercer County Girls' Track Meet and created the first country-wide track meet for high school girls.  In addition to serving as Past President for the New Jersey Jaycee-ettes and treasurer for the United States Jaycee-ettes, she founded the New Jersey Task Force on Women and Alcohol, serving as treasurer.  She was Director of Crawford Half-Way House, Elder and Chairman of Christian Education committee at Lawrence Road Presbyterian Church and Board Member of Children's Center of the Union Industrial Home.  She eventually worked for Prevention Education, Inc. in Princeton, New Jersey.
