Evert A. Larson '37
Growing up in Iron Mountain, Michigan, Evert attended Iron Mountain High School.

Entering Lake Forest in 1934, he went on to earn twelve varsity letters, four each in football, basketball and baseball.  During his senior year, he was elected captain of the football team.  Known as the "King of Commons," he was a member of Digamma Alpha Upsilon, the Economics Club, and was president of the L.F. Club.  In recognition of his leadership and his involvement he was elected to he Iron Key Society.

Graduating with a degree in physics, Evert remained at the College, first as the coach of the freshman football and basketball teams, and later as assistant athletic director and a coach for football, baseball and basketball.  He left Lake Forest in 1942 to become a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy where he instructed aviation cadets in physical fitness and the art of self defense.  After his 1946 discharge with the rank of Lieutenant Commander, he taught mathematics, science and American government in several Michigan schools, until his retirement.
