Forester Athletic Hall of Fame
Inducted 1978
Fred Broda '68
Growing up in Chicago, Illinois, Fred attended St. Rita High School and after two years transferred to Bogan, where he competed in basketball and cross country.  Co-Captain in basketball as a senior, he received All-City honors and honorable mention All-State.

Entering Lake Forest in 1964, Fred lettered in basketball and baseball all four years and was selected Most Valuable Player in basketball every season.  He set the Foresters' career scoring record with 1,825 points (20.3 ppg) and the career rebounding record with 1,037 rebounds.  As a captain his senior year, he was selected first team on the Peoria Journal Star All-State college team.  A member of the Digamma Alpha Upsilon and Iron Key, Fred served on several committees and was an award recipient in the education department.

Graduating with a Bachelor's degree in history, Fred was the first graduate of the College to be offered an NCAA postgraduate scholarship, which he declined to begin his teaching career.  He eventually entered the insurance business and stayed active in Lake Forest affairs by serving on the Alumni Board of Governors and the Alumni Athletic Committee.
