Urlacher and Dunne Cut by Bears
Former Foresters go separate ways

Casey Urlacher (#34) and Pat Dunne (#7) still hope to play professional football.
CHICAGO, IL - After being reunited as teammates on the Chicago Bears' roster, former Lake Forest College football players Casey Urlacher and Pat Dunne were cut by the National Football League club on Sunday (August 24). The team dropped 12 players in all and will have to cut two more by Tuesday (August 26), when all NFL rosters must be down to 65.

Both players had participated in the Bears' minicamp in June. Urlacher signed a three-year deal with the club on July 29 and saw action in two of the team's preseason games. Dunne was signed last Tuesday (August 19) and suited up for the preseason game in Arizona on Friday (August 22).

Urlacher was an All-American linebacker and Midwest Conference Defensive Player of the Year for the Foresters in 2002. He played three seasons at Lake Forest and amassed 358 tackles in 31 games. He hopes to catch on with another NFL team or be signed to a club's practice squad in the next week or so.

Dunne, easily the most prolific kicker in school history, was a three-time all-conference selection at both kicker and punter. He will also continue to work out in hopes of playing professionally. This fall he will be on Lake Forest's coaching staff working with the kickers and punters.

Urlacher and Dunne helped lead Lake Forest to a 9-2 record in 2002 and the program's first Midwest Conference championship since 1983.
