Brent Becker
Defensive Coordinator/Defensive Backs Coach

Coach Becker is in his second year as the Foresters' defensive coordinator and, after working with the linebackers last season, he will direct the defensive backs in 2004.

Becker played at fellow Midwest Conference member Knox College and has now been an assistant coach for six years at four different schools.

He graduated from Knox in 1998 and served as his alma mater's linebacker coach and assistant special teams coordinator the following season. He was also the linebacker coach and co-special teams coordinator at Greenville College in 1999 and 2000. Becker spent the next two years at NCAA Division II Saginaw Valley State University, where he coached the defensive ends.

Lake Forest ranked 23rd in the nation last year in total defense, 22nd in scoring defense, and 15th against the run. Seven of the unit's members earned All-Midwest Conference honors, including three linebackers. In addition, defensive end David Bleitner was the league's Defensive Player of the Year and a Second Team All-American selection (Football Gazette, CoSIDA).

Becker's teams were also successful in each of his first five years of coaching. Knox posted its fourth straight winning season in 1998. Greenville was co-St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champs in 1999 and played in the NCCAA Victory Bowl in 2000. Saginaw Valley qualified for the NCAA Playoffs both seasons Becker was there and finished 2001 as the 6th-ranked team in the country. Overall, Becker's squads have posted a 44-22 record in his six seasons on the sideline.

Becker and his wife, Jessica, reside in Vernon Hills.
