LAKE FOREST, IL – The 2004 Don Hansen’s Football Gazette NCAA Division III All-American Teams were released Monday (December 13) and Lake Forest College seniors David Bleitner (St. Louis, MO/Vianney) and Drew Holman (Morris, IL/Morris) were each named to the third team. Both players had already earned First Team All-West Region honors from the same publication.

Bleitner, the two-time Midwest Conference Defensive Player of the Year, led the Foresters with 7.0 sacks and tied for the team lead with 13.0 tackles for loss. The defensive end is the program’s all-time leader with 49.5 tackles for loss in his career and ranks second in team history with 29.0 sacks. He was named a Second Team All-American by The Football Gazette last year after setting single-season school records and ranking among the top five in the nation with 15.5 sacks and 23.5 tackles for loss.

Holman, a safety, led the Foresters in interceptions for the third straight year. His seven picks tied the single-season school record he set in 2002 and made him the program’s all-time leader with 18 in his career. He also ranked second on the team with 65 tackles and led the squad with 39 solo stops. He earned First Team All-MWC honors after being named to the second team each of the last two years.

Lake Forest finished the season with an 8-2 overall record and a 7-2 mark in league play. The team led the league in scoring defense and was second in yards allowed in MWC games. The unit also ranked 17th in the nation with just 14.3 points surrendered per game.
