David Bleitner was among the nation's leaders in sacks and tackles for loss in 2003.
LAKE FOREST, IL - Don Hansen’s Football Gazette released its NCAA Division III Pre-Season All-American Football Teams Thursday (July 15) and Lake Forest College senior David Bleitner (St. Louis, MO/Vianney) was a First Team selection.

Bleitner ranked among the top five in the nation last season in both sacks (15.5) and tackles for loss (26). He set single season school records in each category and was named Midwest Conference Defensive Player of the Year. The defensive end was also a Second Team All-American selection by both the Football Gazette and the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and earned honorable mention from D3football.com.

A standout in the classroom as well, Bleitner was a 2003 CoSIDA First Team Academic All-District selection.

In his first three seasons at Lake Forest Bleitner has amassed 109 tackles, recovered four fumbles and forced three. He ranks tied-for-second in school history with 22 career sacks and needs just three more tackles for loss to match the team record of 43.
