Former Elgin H.S. Head Coach Joins LFC Staff
Kelly Rice Named Defensive Backs Coach

Lake Forest College first-year Head Coach Chad Eisele added another member to his coaching staff by hiring Kelly Rice to coach the team's defensive backs. 

Rice has spent the past four seasons (1996-1999) as Head Football Coach at Elgin High School, a 6A high school in Elgin, Illinois. 

Prior to his stint at Elgin H.S., Rice spent three seasons (1994-96) as a graduate assistant at South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota, an NCAA Division II school. At SDSU, he coached defensive tackles and inside linebackers. He also assisted in scouting and recruiting while earning his Master of Science degree in Physical Education with an emphasis in Exercise Physiology from SDSU. In 1996, Rice was the football and basketball team's Strength and Conditioning Coordinator.

Rice has also been an assistant coach at Campbell County High School (1992-94) in Gillette, Wyoming and Harmony High School (1990-92) in Harmony, Minnesota. While at Campbell H.S., Rice coached the offensive and defensive lines and helped the team to a Class 5A state championship game appearance. At Harmony H.S., Rice was the team's Head Freshman Football Coach as well as the school's Head Wrestling Coach. 

In 1990, Rice earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from Winona State University in Winona, Minnesota. He minored in Adapted Physical Education and Coaching. 

Rice is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association, American Football Coaches Association, Illinois Football Coaches Association, and American Association for Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.
