Andy Hoffman Joins Lake Forest Football Coaching Staff
Former Maryland and Washington (MO) Coach Takes Over Full-Time Spot at LF

Andy Hoffman, who spent the 1999 season as a graduate assistant at University of Maryland and is a former assistant at Washington University (MO) and Allegheny College, has been named the full-time assistant at Lake Forest College.

Coach Hoffman joins the Forester's coaching staff as the team's full-time assistant and offensive line coach. Hoffman's winning track record includes an NCAA Division III National Championship, three University Athletic Association championships, and an Indiana state semi-final appearance.

Hoffman comes to Lake Forest after a year at University of Maryland, an NCAA Division I school in the Atlantic Coast Conference, where he coached the offensive line as a graduate assistant.

Hoffman's most extensive experience came at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri from 1992 to 1999. The Bears won the University Athletic Association title in 1994, 1995, and 1996. He was the team's recruiting coordinator for all but his first year and coached a variety of positions (defensive line in 1992 and 1993, linebackers in 1994, and offensive line from 1995 to 1999). Hoffman was also the team's assistant strength coach during his time at Washington University. He earned his Master's of Education degree from University of Missouri in St. Louis, Missouri in 1998.

Hoffman began his collegiate coaching career at Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania. During his first season on the staff (1990), Allegheny won the NCAA Division III National Championship. He coached the defensive line and was the team's assistant strength coach during his two years. Hoffman also served as the school's assistant wrestling and assistant track coach.

Hoffman's coaching career began at Kenston High School in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, where he was the head junior varsity coach and coached running backs and defensive line for the varsity squad.

He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Education in 1990 from John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio. While an undergraduate, Hoffman earned four varsity letters in football and was named the team's Most Valuable Lineman and All-Conference in 1988. He also competed on the wrestling squad for two years.

As a prep athlete at St. Joseph's High School in South Bend, Indiana, Hoffman was an All-State offensive guard in 1985 and a starter on the 1984 Indiana High School AA Football State semi-finalist team. Also an accomplished wrestler, he earned a total of eight varsity letters and was the wrestling team's captain and Most Valuable Wrestler in 1985.

Hoffman is a member of the American Football Coaches Association, the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame, Inc., American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, and the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

At Lake Forest, he will also serve as the Strength and Conditioning Coordinator for all 17 varsity sports.
