Brent Becker Named Lake Forest College's Defensive Coordinator
Former Knox College linebacker returns to the Midwest Conference

LAKE FOREST, IL - Lake Forest College Head Football Coach Chad Eisele and Athletic Director Jackie Slaats announced Thursday (March 20) the hiring of Brent Becker to be the department's newest full-time staff member and the team's defensive coordinator. Becker played at fellow Midwest Conference member Knox College and has been an assistant coach for five years at three different schools.

Becker graduated from Knox in 1998 and served as his alma mater's linebacker coach and assistant special teams coordinator the following season. He was also the linebacker coach and co-special teams coordinator at Greenville College in 1999 and 2000. Becker spent the last two years at NCAA Division II Saginaw Valley State University, where he coached the defensive ends.

Becker's teams have been successful at every stop in his coaching career. Knox posted its fourth straight winning season in 1998. Greenville was co-St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champs in 1999 and played in the NCCAA Victory Bowl in 2000. Saginaw Valley qualified for the NCAA Playoffs both seasons Becker was there and finished 2001 as the 6th-ranked team in the country. Overall, Becker's squads posted a 37-19 record in his five years as an assistant coach.

"Coach Becker will be a tremendous addition to our staff," touts Eisele, who also graduated from Knox. "He knows about football in the Midwest Conference and is a proven winner."

Eisele, who has been Lake Forest's defensive coordinator for six years and head coach for three, will move to the other side of the ball in 2003 and direct the offense.
