Lake Forest Promotes Chad Eisele to Head Football Coach
Former Defensive Coordinator to Guide Foresters in 2000

Lake Forest College Athletic Director Jackie Slaats announced on Monday morning that Chad Eisele, the team's defensive coordinator for the past three seasons, has been named the school's Head Football Coach. Former Head Coach Randy Moore has accepted the defensive coordinator position at Hope College in Holland, Michigan.

Moore guided the 1999 Lake Forest team to a 5-5 overall record, the school's best mark since 1986. In his five years, Moore finished with a 13-34 record.

"We're sad to see Randy leave and are appreciative of his efforts over the past five years," Slaats added. "He has done a tremendous job of elevating our program to another level. At the same time, I'm excited to name Chad Eisele our new Head Football Coach. Chad has been an integral part of our athletic department and football program for the past three years. He is a proven winner and we feel he has the vision and leadership skills to continue the upward, successful trend of Forester Football. I feel fortunate to have such a qualified coach already on our staff at Lake Forest College."

Eisele inherits a team that, in 1999, finished in the upper half of the Midwest Conference for the second straight season, but will have to replace 22 graduating seniors, including 15 starters, next fall. Eisele is eager to accept the challenges ahead of him at Lake Forest. "I'm excited to begin my head coaching career here at Lake Forest. It is a tremendous opportunity for my family and me. All the pieces are in place for us to develop a successful football tradition at Lake Forest College."

In addition to directing Lake Forest's defensive unit the past three seasons, Eisele has been the school's Head Men's Tennis Coach. In 1999, he guided the team to the school's first Midwest Conference Championship since 1978. During each of his three years as Head Coach, the team has either tied or broken the school record for wins in a season, including this year's mark of 16-4. Eisele will continue to direct the Forester men's tennis program.

Eisele's three-year stint as defensive coordinator at Lake Forest has produced the first-, second-, and fourth-highest team tackle for loss totals in school history, as well as the second- and fifth-highest team sack totals. Eisele's defensive schemes have also forced 56 fumbles (31 of which have been recovered by Lake Forest) and 28 interceptions in three seasons.

Three times in the past two years, Lake Forest has held opponents to just 7 points, which was the first time since 1992 that LF had allowed fewer than 10 points in a game and just the third, fourth, and fifth times it has happened in the 1990's.

Eisele, a Knox College graduate, returned to the Midwest Conference in 1997 after a three-year stint as defensive coordinator for Wayne State University in Detroit, MI, an NCAA Division II school. Eisele earned his Master of Science in Sports Administration from Wayne State.
