Three Foresters Named First Team All-MWC, Six Second Team
Four players also earn honorable mention

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The 2007 All-Midwest Conference football teams were released Tuesday (November 13) and Lake Forest College players were listed 14 times, the second-most in team history.

Senior nose guard Tim Paulsen (Des Plaines, Ill./Maine West), junior safety Matt Lawler (Chicago, Ill./St. Rita), and sophomore wide receiver Dan Carter (Arlington Heights, Ill./St. Viator) were named First Team All-MWC. Carter was a second team choice and Lawler an honorable mention selection last year. Paulsen led the Foresters with 9.5 tackles for loss and three sacks on the season. He also forced a fumbled and recovered two. Lawler’s five interceptions led the team and ranked tied-for-second in the conference. He was also fourth on the squad with 57 tackles. Carter led the team with 786 receiving yards and 11 touchdown catches, finishing second in the league in both categories.

Senior quarterback Jeff Ziemnik (Oswego, Ill./Oswego), senior offensive lineman Justin Ellerman (Chicago, Ill./Loyola), sophomore receiver Will Christensen (Park City, Utah/Park City), and freshman tight end Steven Yena (Chandler, Ariz./Basha) were Second Team All-MWC selections on offense and Ellerman also earned the honor as a punter, as he did in 2003 as a freshman. Ziemnik led the conference with 274.1 yards of total offense per game and set a school record with 20 touchdown passes on the season. Ellerman was a standout at both left guard and tackle during the season. He also led the conference and ranked fifth in the nation at 42.2 yards per punt, the second-highest average in school history. Christensen caught a team-high 52 passes for 472 yards and a touchdown and led the league in receptions per game. Yena, an effective blocker and receiver, caught four passes for 63 yards on the year.

Two sophomores, defensive end Jaron Eanes (Cleveland, Ohio/Lake Forest Academy) and linebacker Chad Zimborski (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha North), were second team choices on defense. Eanes ranked seventh on the team and second among its defensive linemen with 46 tackles. He was also second on the squad with 6.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks. Zimborski led Lake Forest and ranked fourth in the conference with 98 tackles. He also added six tackles for loss, an interception, and a forced fumble.

The Foresters’ Honorable Mention All-MWC selections included senior wide receiver Tom Cirone (Chicago, Ill./Niles Notre Dame), senior safety Ed Kidd (Round Lake, Ill./Buffalo Grove), junior offensive lineman Larry Rategan (Chicago, Ill./St. Patrick), and junior defensive lineman Chris Tossing (Lake St. Louis, Mo./Wentzville Holt). Cirone and Tossing earned the same honor last season while Kidd was a second team choice last year and earned honorable mention in 2004 and 2005.

The Foresters finished the season with an overall record of 5-5 and tied for fifth in the league standings with a conference mark of 5-4.
