Foresters Earn Nine All-Midwest Conference Selections
Huebner and Hanson named First Team All-MWC

LAKE FOREST, IL – The Midwest Conference released it 2005 All-MWC Football Teams on Wednesday (November 16) and Lake Forest players were listed nine times.

Senior wide receiver Jeff Huebner (Antioch, IL/Antioch) and senior defensive back Keith Hanson (Fairfax, VA/Vermont Academy) were named to the first team after leading the league with 1,002 receiving yards and six interceptions, respectively. Huebner became the first player in school history with at least 1,000 receiving yards in a season, his 12 touchdown catches tied the program’s record, and his 60 receptions are the second-highest total. He also established a new team record with 19 touchdown receptions in his career. Hanson was one shy of matching the team record for interceptions in a season and his six picks in nine games were tied for the 16th-best mark in the nation this year. He finished the campaign with 49 tackles, the sixth-highest total on the team. Hanson also earned honorable mention all-conference recognition for his exploits as a punt returner.

Junior linebackers Louis Bertuca (Chicago, IL/Fenwick) and Ryan Gallegos (Plantation, FL/St. Thomas Aquinas) were named to the second team. Bertuca was third on the team with 76 tackles and he led the squad with 13.5 tackles for loss, 7.0 sacks, and four forced fumbles. All three marks ranked among the top five in the league. Gallegos was leading the team in tackles before an injury early in the Foresters’ seventh game ended his season. He finished with 56 tackles and a pair of interceptions.

Seniors Andre Washington (West Palm Beach, FL/Benjamin) and A.J. Rodino (Elkhart, IN/Elkhart Memorial) were honorable mention selections on offense. Washington led the team with 540 rushing yards and Rodino was tied-for-fourth with 13 receptions and ranked fifth with 136 receiving yards.

Senior linebacker Soren Johnson (Ripon, WI/Ripon) and sophomore safety Ed Kidd (Round Lake, IL/Buffalo Grove) were honorable mention choices on defense. They tied for the team lead with 77 tackles on the year. Johnson registered 4.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. Kidd forced one fumble, recovered three, and added one interception.

The Forester football program has now had at least nine all-conference selections each of the last eight seasons and 50 in the last four.
