DUNNE NAMED NATIONAL DIII SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Pat Dunne (Chicago, IL/Marist High School), a sophomore punter and kicker for the Foresters, received numerous national honors after his performance during Lake Forest's 21-14 win over Carroll on Saturday (Nov. 13). Included in Dunne's accolades was being named the NCAA Division III Special Teams Player of the Week by Don Hansen's National Weekly Football Gazette. He was also named to the National Team of the Week by Division III Football Online and was on the Honorable Mention list for USA Football's Division III Special Teams Player of the Week.
Dunne broke a school record with his 578 yards of punting on Saturday, breaking the old record, which stood for 14 years, by 100 yards. He also tied a school record with 12 punts, giving him a punting average of 48.2 yards per boot. His performance on Saturday gave him 2,134 punting yards for the season, also a new school record. He finished the year with a 39.5-yard punting average, the third-highest single season total in school history. Dunne also nailed both of his extra point attempts (including one from 24 yards out after a penalty). He finished the season with 31 extra points (including a string of 24 in a row at one point), breaking the school record by 4 PATs. Additionally, Dunne tied a school record with 6 field goals for the season and had the fourth highest field goal percentage (6/10 for 60%) in a season in the school record books. Saturday's win gave Lake Forest their first non-losing football season since 1986.
