Three Lake Forest Players Named First Team All-MWC, One Second Team
Seven other Foresters earn honorable mention

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The 2008 All-Midwest Conference football teams were released Thursday (November 20) and 11 Lake Forest College players were recognized for their acheivements this season.

Senior safety Matt Lawler (Chicago, Ill./St. Rita), senior defensive lineman Chris Tossing (Lake St. Louis, Mo./Wentzville Holt) and junior wide receiver Dan Carter (Arlington Heights, Ill./St. Viator) were named First Team All-MWC. Lawler also earned first team honors last year and was an honorable mention selection as a sophomore. He led this year's Foresters and ranked tied-for-third in the conference with five interceptions. He also recorded a team-high 89 tackles, good for sixth in the league, and finished his career with 259 stops and 16 interceptions. Tossing had earned honorable mention distinctions each of the last two seasons. He led Lake Forest with six sacks and ranked second on the squad with 82 tackles, the 10th-highest total in the MWC. He finished his career with 205 tackles, including 20.5 tackles for loss and 12.5 sacks. Carter is making a repeat appearance on the first team after garnering second team honors as a freshman. He ranked second in the conference with 58 catches and 897 receiving yards and added seven touchdowns. He is already the Foresters' all-time leader with 2,423 receiving yards and 29 touchdown catches.

Sophomore running back Brock Stenberg (Grand Haven, Mich./Grand Haven) was the Foresters' only Second Team All-Midwest Conference honoree. He finished sixth in the league with a team-high 633 rushing yards and added 227 yards on 16 receptions during the season. He scored a touchdown both rushing and receiving October 11 at Lawrence University and then surpassed 100 yards in both categories a week later against Grinnell College.

Earning Honorable Mention All-MWC recognition on offense were senior offensive lineman Larry Rategan (Chicago, Ill./St. Patrick), senior wide receiver Tim McNamee (Winter Haven, Fla./Winter Haven), and sophomore tight end Steven Yena (Chandler, Ariz./Basha). Rategan was also an honorable mention selection last season. He started every game each of the last three years and appeared in all 40 of the team's contests during his career with 37 starts. McNamee played in every game this season and caught 18 passes for 150 yards. Yena, a 2007 second team all-conference selection, made seven receptions for 87 yards this year.

The Foresters’ Honorable Mention All-MWC selections on defense included junior lineman Jaron Eanes (Cleveland, Ohio/Lake Forest Academy), junior linebackers Chad Zimborski (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha North) and Donovan Baldridge (St. Louis, Mo./Chaminade), and freshman defenseive back Luke Butts (Warrensburg, Ill./Warrensburg). Eanes, a 2007 second team honoree, led the team with 14.0 tackles for loss and tied for 19th in the conference with 71 tackles. Zimborski was also a second team all-conference selection last year and tallied 55 tackles this season, giving him 217 so far in his career. Baldridge and Butts tied for third on the team and 16th in the league with 74 tackles.

The Foresters finished the season with an overall record of 3-7 and finished seventh in the league standings with a conference mark of 3-6.
