Cornerback highlighted by Don Hanson’s Football Gazette

Keith Hanson was one of four to earn National Defensive Player of the Week honors.
LAKE FOREST, IL – Lake Forest College football player Keith Hanson (Fairfax, VA/Vermont Academy) was selected as one of the National Defensive Players of the Week by Don Hanson’s Football Gazette on Tuesday (October 11). He helped lead the Foresters to a 28-14 victory over Knox College on Saturday (October 8).

Hanson, a senior cornerback, recorded five tackles in the game, including one for loss. He also picked off a pair of passes and was credited with 45 return yards. His first interception of the contest came in the third quarter at the Forester 19 yardline and he brought it back to the 32. He caught the second at the Knox 45 and returned it down the sideline to the end zone. Lake Forest was cited for holding at the 13 yardline during the return and he was only credited for yards to that point.

In addition to his exploits on defense, Hanson also blocked a 23-yard field goal attempt during the second quarter.

The Football Gazette’s weekly awards honor between two and four standout NCAA Division III players on each side of the ball as well as 1-3 special teams performers.
