Keith Hanson Named MWC Special Teams Performer of the Week
Sophomore also earns Forester Athlete of the Week honors

Keith Hanson made a pair of big plays on special teams.
LAKE FOREST, IL - Lake Forest College football player Keith Hanson (Fairfax, VA/Chantilly) was named Midwest Conference Special Teams Performer of the Week Tuesday (October 14) for his contributions to the Foresters' 13-12 victory at Knox College on Saturday (October 11). On Thursday (October 16), he was also named Forester Athlete of the Week.

After Knox took a 6-0 lead early in the fourth quarter, Hanson came around the right side of the offensive line and blocked the extra point attempt.

Lake Forest scored a touchdown of its own and made the extra point to take a 7-6 lead with 7:42 remaining and stopped the Prairie Fire's next two drives, the second at Knox's 17 yard line. Despite the Foresters' punt return unit being in its "safe mode" to guard against a fake, Hanson fielded the kick and scampered 41 yards for the touchdown and a 13-6 Lake Forest lead with 4:27 left.

Knox scored again to cut the lead to 13-12 but was unsuccessful on the two-point conversion attempt.

In addition to Hanson's exploits on special teams, the sophomore cornerback recorded three solo tackles and helped limit Knox's preseason All-American wide receiver to just five receptions for 55 yards.

Midwest Conference Performers of the Week are selected by the league's sports information directors. The Athletic Department votes for the Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursdays.
