LAKE FOREST, IL - St. Norbert College turned a 7-0 lead at halftime into a 27-0 lead after three quarters and held on to beat Lake Forest College, 34-13, on Saturday (October 28th) at Farwell Field in Midwest Conference football action. The Green Knights (8-0, 7-0 MWC), the defending MWC champions, remained undefeated for the 2000 season. Lake Forest (3-5, 3-4 MWC) fell below the .500 mark in league play. After battling to a scoreless first quarter, St. Norbert got on the scoreboard with a Mike Lynn four-yard touchdown catch from Luke Ott. The score would remain 7-0 until the third quarter, when St. Norbert would explode for 20 unanswered points and stretch their lead to 27-0. Two of the third quarter touchdowns came via Ott's arm, including a second TD strike to Lynn. Nick Harrison (New Milford, NJ/Dwight-Englewood) got the Foresters on the board with his second touchdown of the season. Harrison scored from eight yards out off a pass from Andy Heikes (Palos Hills, IL/Stagg). Harrison finished the day with 66 yards receiving and another 26 yards rushing. Freshman Tom Starnicky's (Oak Lawn, IL/Marist) five-yard touchdown run brought the Foresters within two scores with just under six minutes to play, but St. Norbert would put the game away less than two minutes later on Matt O'Grady's second touchdown of the afternoon. O'Grady had 218 yards rushing for the game. Heikes led LF with a game-high 171 yards passing on 11-of-22 attempts, while Andy O'Hara (South Bend, IN/Riley) led the Forester defensive efforts with 16 tackles (7 solo, 9 assists). Lake Forest will be on the road for their final two games of the season. This coming Saturday (November 4th) the Foresters will face Knox College at 1:00.
