LAKE FOREST, IL - Lake Forest College football player Omar Pickering (Mount Vernon, NY/Port Chester) was named to D3football.com's National Team of the Week on Tuesday (October 8) for his contributions to the Foresters' 27-3 victory at Monmouth College on Saturday (October 5).

Lake Forest held Monmouth to just a field goal and forced the Fighting Scots into seven turnovers. It marked the least number of points scored by a Forester opponent since a 6-0 shutout of Lawrence University in 1989.

Pickering tallied a game-high 12 tackles in the win, including eight solos and one for loss. The sophomore linebacker also added an interception, his second of the season. He is the team's second player to earn team of the week honors after fellow linebacker Kevin Krabel (Oakland, IL/Oakland) made the squad last week.

Pickering is second on the squad with 43 tackles this season, including 23 solo stops. He is tied for the team-lead with two interceptions and tied for second on the team with seven tackles for loss. He has also four pass breakups, a fumble recovery, and a blocked kick.
