Jimmy Hoover Named MWC Special Teams Performer of the Week
Junior recovered a pair of onside kicks on Saturday

Jimmy Hoover
LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Lake Forest College football player Jimmy Hoover (Lake St. Louis, Mo./Wentzville Holt) was named Midwest Conference Special Teams Performer of the Week on Monday (September 10) for his performance in the Foresters’ 34-27 loss to Ripon College on Saturday (September 8).

Hoover, a junior defensive back, recorded three special teams tackles in the game, including on for a 2-yard loss on a punt return. However, his more dramatic accomplishments came during the Foresters’ comeback efforts in the fourth quarter. After a Lake Forest touchdown cut the Ripon lead to 34-24 with 5:43 to play, Hoover recovered an onside kick at the Forester 43-yard line. The home team pulled to within seven with a field goal and kicked off again with 4:31 remaining. The kick landed and bounced sideways between the first wave of Red Hawks and the kick returner and Hoover was able to recover once again.

Midwest Conference Performers of the Week are selected by the league’s sports information director.
