Lake Forest Leads Early but Falls to St. Norbert

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Forester football team dropped a 36-6 decision to visiting St. Norbert College on Saturday (September 22). Lake Forest fell to 0-4 overall and 0-3 in Midwest Conference play while the Green Knights remained perfect in four games this season, including three league contests.

Forester freshman Brian Ruiz (Chicago, Ill./St. Patrick) returned the opening kickoff 36 yards to the St. Norbert 47. Shortly after sophomore Will Christensen (Park City, Utah/Park City) ran the ball 20 yards caught a pass for 23, sophomore Joe Plano (Chicago, Ill./Mt. Carmel) scored his first career touchdown from a yard out to give the home team the early lead.

St. Norbert, however, responded with back-to-back touchdown drives to take a 14-6 lead after one quarter and added touchdowns on consecutive possessions in the second quarter to pull ahead 28-6 at halftime.

The third quarter included four punts, three turnovers, and a failed fourth down attempt but no points. The visitors closed out the scoring with a touchdown with 10:36 remaining in the contest.

Junior Matt Lawler (Chicago, Ill./St. Rita) led the Lake Forest defense with nine tackles, including five solos. Sophomores Lorenzo Ramirez (Denver, Colo./Kent Denver) and Donovan Baldridge (St. Louis, Mo./Chaminade) each added eight stops and Ramirez intercepted his second pass of the season.

The Foresters will look to rebound at Beloit College next Saturday (September 29) at 1:30 p.m.
