December 3rd, 2000 Contact: Scott Rucker, SID Munson and Mehilos Advance to Semifinals for Second

WEST ALLIS, WI - For the second consecutive tournament, Lake Forest College's David Munson (Williston, VT) and Bill Mehilos (Addison, IL) advanced to the Open Singles semifinal round. This weekend (December 1st-3rd), the pair qualified for the final four at the Milwaukee Classic. Munson advanced to the semifinals by upsetting the number four seed, Tony Krocak. After dropping the first game, Munson won game two, 21-19, before narrowly winning the tie-breaker, 11-10. Both Munson and Mehilos were defeated in their semifinal matches. Munson fell to top-seeded Dane Szatkowski, 21-13, 21-18, while Mehilos lost to second-seeded and eventual champion Pet Crouser, 21-17, 21-10. Three Foresters won other brackets at the tournament. Mark O'Leary (South Boston, MA) won the Open Consolation, Shane Vigen (Edmonton, Alberta) won the A Singles bracket, and Jordan Fromstein (Thornhill, Ontario) was victorious in B Singles. In the C Singles bracket, freshman Megan Mehilos (Addison, IL) raced to the finals before falling in a tie-breaker, 21-8, 20-21, 11-2. The field was all male except for Mehilos. Megan Mehilos and the rest of the Lake Forest women's team will compete in the I.H.A. Singles Women's Tournament in Lake Forest next weekend (December 8-9).
