Lake Forest Competes at Milwaukee Classic
Stevens claims a victory in Men’s Open Division

Tyler Stevens advanced to the Men's Open round of 16.
WEST ALLIS, WI - Forester handball players competed in the Milwaukee Classic over the weekend (December 2-4) and found victories difficult to come by against stiff competition.

Senior Tyler Stevens (Toledo, OH) was the only one of seven Lake Forest players to advance to the second round in the Men’s Open Singles Division. He posted a 21-9, 21-18 victory in the first round but fell in the round of 16.

Sophomore Carly Stickles (Ridgeway, ON) reached the semifinals in the Women’s Open Singles before falling to the eventual champion. Senior Kim Lawser (West Chester, PA), junior Lisa Jeziorny (Orland Park, IL), and sophomore Kim Braden (Beloit, WI) also won in round one but were defeated in the quarterfinals.

Sophomore Jon Iglesias (Elmhurst, NY) defeated freshman Bill O’Donnell (Bayside, NY) in the finals of the Men’s Open Drop-Down Bracket and sophomore Tom Pfiel (Philadelphia, PA) claimed the D-Division title.

Jeziorny won the Women’s A-Division final over senior Clare Longfellow (Wilmette, IL).

The Foresters’ first competition after the holiday break will be at the Illinois Handball Association Men’s Singles Tournament in Des Plaines January 19-22.
