Jon Iglesias Advances to Milwaukee Classic Championship Match

WEST ALLIS, Wis. - Several Lake Forest College handball players competed in the Milwaukee Classic over the weekend (December 5-7). Individual Foresters placed first or second in five different brackets.

Senior Jon Iglesias (Elmhurst, Ill.) was the event's runner-up. After receiving one of eight first-round byes, the fourth-seeded Iglesias rattled off three consecutive victories to reach the final, where he was defeated 21-19, 21-15 by former Forester Dane Szatkowski.

Szatkowski also eliminated Lake Forest junior Suhn Lee (Glenview, Ill.) 18-21, 21-12, 11-1 in the semifinals. Lee also received a round one bye and defeated second-seeded Bill Mehilos, another former Forester, in the quarterfinals.

Sophomore Nikolai Nahorniak (Elk Grove, Ill.) won his first round match 21-11, 21-4 before falling in the round of 16.

Sophomore Victor Perez (Los Angeles, Calif.) was the "A" Singles champion after dfeating his opponent 21-6, 21-10 in the final.

Junior Joey Urbani (Bozeman, Mont.) prevailed 21-7, 21-10 in the "A" Consolation championship match.

Freshman Riley Kloss (Mt. Prospect, Ill.) reached the "B" Singles final before falling 21-18, 21-19 and senior Kushal Modi (North Little Rock, Ark.) also dropped a close match (21-19, 21-20) in the "B" Consolation final.

The team's next competition will be the Illinois Handball Asssociation Men's Singles Tournament January 15-18 in Des Plaines, Illinois.
