LF COLLECTS MEN'S, COMBINED CHAMPIONSHIPS AT INTERCOLLEGIATES

Twenty-five colleges and universities participated in this year's National Intercollegiates hosted by Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, MO.

It was a banner weekend for the Forester handball teams as they captured the much coveted team (combined) championship as a result of the first place finish by the men's team and second place finish by the women's squad. Both teams combined for 1482 points, edging SMSU, who finished with 1468.

Individual highlights included the open doubles championship in the men's division won by Mike Bargman and Mike Munson, as they ran through the field without any team scoring more than 11 points in a game against them. Their championship match against Paul Brady and Padraig Gaffney (Dublin Inst./Ireland) resulted in a 21-8, 21-11 victory.

Sabrina Zamora, playing in her final collegaite tournament, advanced to the finals in both the open singles and open doubles (with partner Erika Sove). Additionally, Mary Gerke won the A singles in a tight match with Karla Wray (Texas A&M), 19-21, 21-10, 11-6.

Due to their high finishes, Zamora, Sove, Bargman, and Munson received All-Ameica honors.
