LAKE FOREST, IL - Lake Forest College played host to the Illinois Handball Association Women's State Doubles Tournament Friday and Saturday (February 8-9th). Ten doubles teams competed in the tournament, including three pairs of Foresters.

Senior Leslie Boyle (Chicago Heights, IL) and sophomore Megan Mehilos (Addison, IL) teamed up and easily won their quarterfinal match. A tiebreaker loss in the semifinals sent them to the A-Division bracket, where they defeated teammates Amy Sove (Modesto, CA) and Megan Gibson (Brown Deer, WI) for the division title.

Juniors Sove and Gibson, along with the team of freshmen Danielle and Michelle White (Nova Scotia, Canada), were victims of the eventual State Champions, Allison Roberts ('01) and Tanya Lazaro ('98). The White sisters, after falling to the champs in the opening round, went 1-1 in the B-Division bracket.

Next weekend (February 14-17th), the men's team will play in the Bloomingdale Doubles Tournament. The following weekend (February 21-24th) will be the final event of the season, the United States Handball Association Intercollegiate Championships, in College Station, Texas. Lake Forest is the defending champion in the men's, women's and combined divisions.
