David Munson Wins Men's Open Division at Bannockburn Tourney
Three other Foresters win titles

BANNOCKBURN, IL - Lake Forest College freshman David Munson (Williston, VT) raced to the Men's Open championship at the College Park Tournament over the weekend (January 19th-20th) in Bannockburn, IL. 

Munson upset the tournament's number two seed, Carlos Zamora of Des Plaines, IL, in two games, 21-10, 21-14, during the semifinals before defeating teammate Mark O'Leary (South Boston, MA), 21-16, 21-10, in the finals. O'Leary advanced to the championship match with a 18-21, 21-19, 11-2 win over David's older brother, Mike Munson (Williston, VT), the top seed. 

Munson was one of four Foresters (two men and two women) to win titles.

In the Men's A Singles bracket, it was another all-Lake Forest final with Shane Vigen (Edmonton, Alberta) taking the measure of Keith Vassall (Brooklyn, NY) in a long tie-breaker match, 7-21, 21-12, 11-4.

Freshman Megan Mehilos (Addison, IL) elected to play in the Men's B division and lost a tough match, 21-18, 21-20, to Rick Space of Northbrook, IL. Space went on to win the bracket.

In the Women's Open bracket, Samantha England (Prince George, British Columbia) advanced to the final match where she met top-seeded, Carla Wess of Chicago, IL. England knocked off Wess, 21-10, 21-19, in two games.

Leslie Boyle (Chicago Heights, IL) defeated former Forester Niahm Conneely Kristofer '99, 21-7, 21-7, in the finals of the Women's A division.

The next scheduled tournament for Lake Forest is the men's Sweet Sixteen Tourney at home on January 26th-27th.
