Roberts and White Win A/B Division at State Women's Doubles Tournament
Sove and Mehilos finish second in Open Division

LAKE FOREST, IL - Lake Forest College played host to the Illinois Handball Association State Women's Doubles Tournament over the weekend (January 24-25). Nine doubles teams competed in the event, four in the Open Division and five in the A/B Division. Each team played all the others in that division.

Allison Roberts and Tanya Lazaro, who graduated from Lake Forest in 1991 and 1997, respectively, won their three matches to claim the Open Division crown. Second place went to senior Amy Sove (Modesto, CA) and junior Megan Mehilos (Addison, IL), who won twice but fell to Roberts and Lazaro 11-21, 21-10, 11-0. Senior Megan Gibson (Brown Deer, WI) and junior Samantha England (Prince George, British Columbia) finished third with a 1-2 record.

In the A/B Division, junior Sarah Roberts (Plainfield, IL) and sophomore Danielle White (Nova Scotia, Canada) took the title with a 4-0 record. They defeated second place (3-1) Terry Mehilos and Robin Sterrett in the final match 15-8, 15-11. Sophomores Michelle White (Nova Scotia, Canada) and Nadia Fazel (Paradise Valley, AZ) finished fourth with a 1-3 record.

The next event on the Foresters' schedule is the Circle City Tournament in Indianapolis, Indiana on January 31-February 2. Lake Forest will then host the 2003 Men's Invitational Doubles Tournament February 7-8 before competing in the 2003 United States Handball Association Intercollegiate Championships February 19-23.
