Ten Foresters Compete in U.S.H.A. Women's Classic in New York
Three reach the Open round of 16

SYOSET, N.Y. - The United States Handball Association Women's Classic was held in New York from Thursday through Sunday (January 22-25). Ten Lake Forest players competed in the event.

Forester juniors Aimee Ulbert (Des Plaines, Ill.) and Emily Zender (Fishers, Ind.) and freshman Maria Dugas (Halifax, Nova Scotia) each won a pair of matches before falling in the round of 16. Ulbert then won 19-21, 21-10, 11-4 and Zender defeated Dugas 7-21, 21-11, 11-6 in the Ninth-Place Quarterfinals. Both Ulbert and Zender were eliminated in the semifinals.

Senior Alex Charron (Calgary, Alberta) was eliminated from the Open Division in the round of 32 and then posted a victory in the B Division before falling in that bracket's quarterfinals.

After falling in the Open Division's first round, sophomore Nicole Moser (Oak Lawn, Ill.) rattled off three straight victories in the C Division before falling to the division's eventual champion in the semifinals. Senior Hannah Michal (Lake Villa, Ill.) and freshman Ann Szutenbach (Chicago, Ill.) also played in the C Division and reached the quarterfinals.

Sophomore Sarah Brusig (Rifle, Colo.) won four consecutive matches in the C Consolation Division, including a 21-20, 21-20 triumph in the bracket's championship match. Sophomore Bianca Greene (Santa Monica, Calif.) won twice to reach the semifinals and junior Viri Del Bosque (Rockford, Ill.) made it to the quarterfinals.

The Lake Forest men and women will be in action again at the Circle City Tournament in Indianapolis, Indiana, February 6-8.
