Lake Forest Players Travel to New York for U.S.H.A. Women’s Classic

MYOSSET, N.Y. - Forester handball players competed in the United States Handball Association Women’s Classic over the weekend (January 24-27). The international event was held at Sportime Fitness and Racquetball in Syosset, New York.

Sophomore Aimee Ulbert (Des Plaines, Ill.) was the only team member to advance past the round of 32. She posted a 21-5, 21-4 victory before falling 20-21, 21-2, 11-6 to Lake Forest graduate Samantha England in the round of 16. Ulbert then won her quarterfinal contest in the A Singles 21-11, 21-2 before dropping a 21-11, 21-18 decision in the semifinals.

Senior Kim Braden (Beloit, Wis.) and sophomore Emily Zender (Fishers, Ind.) each won first round matches but fell in the round of 32. Zender and senior Carly Stickles (Ridgeway, Ont.) prevailed three times in the B Singles bracket before being eliminated in the semifinals.

Sophomore Hayley Roberts (La Grange, Ill.) won her first round match in the B Consolation bracket but fell in the division’s quarterfinals.

Lake Forest’s men and women will compete in the Circle City Tournament in Indianapolis next weekend (February 1-3).
