Forester Players Take Two of the Top Three Spots at I.H.A. Women's Singles Tourney
Aimee Ulbert is the runner-up for the third straight year

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Lake Forest College hosted the Illinois Handball Association Women's Singles Tournament over the weekend (November 14-15). Eleven current Foresters and a pair of alumni were part of the 17-player field.

Junior Aimee Ulbert (Des Plaines, Ill.) was the event's runner-up for the third straight season after defeating freshman Maria Dugas (Halifax, Nova Scotia) 21-14, 21-18 in the semifinals and falling to Megan Mehilos, a 2004 graduate of the College, 21-14, 21-5 in the championship match. It was the seventh consecutive title for Mehilos.

Dugas had won a pair of matches on Friday to reach the semifinals. After falling to Ulbert, she won the third-place match 21-1, 21-7.

Junior Emily Zender (Fishers, Ind.) and senior Alex Charron (Calgary, Alberta) were victorious in their opening round matches but fell in the quarterfinals. Zender rattled off three more victories in the A-Division, including a 21-19, 21-14 decision in the bracket's final. Charron took third in the division on a 21-5, 21-18 triump;h over former teammate Lisa Jeziorny '07.

Sophomores Nicole Moser (Oak Lawn, Ill.) and Bianca Greene (Santa Monica, Calif.) advanced to the A quarterfinals before falling to Charron and Jeziorny, respectively. Moser won twice more before falling 21-6, 21-14 in the B-Division final.

Senior Hannah Michal (Lake Villa, Ill.) won her B quarterfinal match, fell in the semifinals, and then posted a 21-10, 21-10 victory in the division's third-place match.
